Where every summary comes from, and how it earns its place.

What you are reading is our summary, not the book. Every page on this site is an original summary written by booooooks in our own words — a distillation of a book, never the book's own text. Where we quote, the quotation is marked and checked word-for-word against the source. If you want the book itself, each page points you to where to get it.

Every summary wears one of two badges — an honest mark of how we know what we know:

The book is in the public domain, so we hold its complete text and wrote the summary by reading all of it.

cross-checked across sources

The book is still in copyright, so — lawfully — we don’t hold its text. Instead we triangulate: reference works, the model’s own trained knowledge, and independent human cross-checks, reconciled into one account and passed through the same quality gates. It’s a different road to the same standard.

Neither badge is a lie of omission: the gold badge never claims we read a book we can’t legally hold, and the green badge is only worn when we truly read the whole thing.

Public-domain sources. Wherever the original book is in the public domain, our summary is written from the full original text (Project Gutenberg, Wikisource and peers) — not from other people’s summaries.

Verbatim-verified quotes. Quotes shown on book pages are checked word-for-word against the source text before they appear. If we can’t verify a line, we don’t show it.

AI distillation, disclosed. Summaries are AI-written and AI-audited, then gated: a summary is published only after it passes structural checks (story arc, clarity, zero known factual errors).

Transfer-tested. Our ruling metric is a closed-book exam written from the real book: a reader who saw only our summary must be able to answer it. Summaries that fail get regenerated, not shipped.

Per-book clearance. Every book record carries a clearance status — its copyright basis and the mitigations applied — and requests are honored per book (see takedown requests).

Every book, sourced · verified · tested — that’s the shelf.
